A Note To Prospective Job Seekers

Today, I saw The Nanny Diaries. This was, perhaps, not my best movie-going choice ever, but none the less, I have come away from the experience with a valuable job-interview-don't. As the film opens, the main character Annie, played by Scarlett Johansson, is a recent college graduate seeking employment in the financial field. She interviews for a highly competitive position. Her chosen outfit: a gray skirt suit. A wise decision. Her choice of hosiery, however, not so wise. I shudder, even now, at the recollection that our heroine, Annie the eventual Nanny, wears, with her smart gray skirt suit, white ankle socks.

Noone has commented on this, so I'm going to have to do it. I would never wear a skirt suit to a job interview. I know what I'm talking about, I'm a pretty snappy dresser, let me tell you. A skirt suit would definitely be a faux pas (that's french), it means you didn't get the job.

Not to mention the challenge of finding a skirt suit in your size.
